The artist has given the entirety of his £25,000 honor prize money to the MVT, which functions to preserve the Britain's small music venues.

Fender was awarded the award on October 16 as his latest record the album was named the top album of the previous year.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Sam Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16% of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by adding a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.

These funds helped venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces received financial assistance in modernizing amenities and gear that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that money from shows in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it begins for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to donate his honor funds to charitable organizations.

Back when they received the award in the mid-90s for their release the album, lead singer the singer stated that the act would donate their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

In 2002, artist she shared her award among several organizations, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," the artist explained to the media.

Two years ago, the band gave their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their band, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked singer Small. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the cherry, because we had the cake. So our victory touched another person's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected two small stages in that region, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in Southampton and the second in Bristol were acquired under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by a national body and music fans who buy "shares" in the buildings.
